Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Never Inked Limited Edition Montblanc Alexander the Great Fountain Pen from the 1998 Patron of the Art Series. This particular fountain pen is a Limited Edition 733 of 4810. This pen comes with the original inner and outer boxes along with the Montblanc International Service Certificate / Documentation. This fountain pen has never been inked, is considered New Old Stock, and is in Mint Condition fitted with an 18K (.86mm) Medium nib.

NOTE: The Alexander the Great fountain pen from the Patron of Art Edition is a striking tribute to the Hellenistic era. Its gold-plated cap is reminiscent of a slender column and is adorned with intricate lotus flowers that stand out beautifully against the black lacquer background. The barrel of the pen is crafted from finely marbled black lacquer, with gold-colored veins meandering through it, adding an air of mystery to the design.

The cap and barrel are in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, dings, dents, enameling loss, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. This Montblanc is a limited edition number, "733 of 4810" and is stamped on the left side of the cap. The fountain pen measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/4" posted. This pen weighs in at 2.06 ounces, which one can feel the weight of the pen and know it is well made!

This Montblanc fountain pen uses a piston filling system, I have tested it with water, and works as it was designed to. It is in perfect working order and does so very smoothly. This pen has never seen ink and is considered in Mint, New Old Stock condition.

The medium nib of this fountain pen is made of 18K gold and features an exquisitely designed engraving of a stylized ram's head. The ram's head is a representation of the god Amon and is associated with Alexander the Great, who was once proclaimed to be the son of Amon on earth by an oracle. The nib is stamped with, "4810, 18K/750, 1998, MONTBLANC" and is considered a MEDIUM point, measuring .88mm with digital calipers. The fountain pen has never been used with ink in order to preserve its pristine condition for the next owner or collector.

This Montblanc comes in the original Montblanc wooden black lacquered box, outer storage factory boxes, and Limited Edition International Service Certificate Booklet.

Few people have been able to shape the cultural course of the world so decisively as Alexander the Great. Through the influence of his teacher Aristotle, the young king of Macedonia sowed the seeds of Greek architecture, philosophy, and art in large parts of the Orient during his conquests. The cities founded by him – particularly Alexandria in Egypt – soon became centers of culture, science, and research in the dawning age of Hellenism.

This Montblanc Patron of the Art Alexander the Great Fountain Pen has always been a favorite in the Patron of the Arts series. This one is in impeccable condition, having never been used with ink with a barrel and cap free from any imperfections! I would classify this Montblanc Alexander the Great Fountain Pen as being in never-inked, mint, new old stock condition.
