For your consideration, we are offering for sale this 2021 Sailor 110th Anniversary Limited Edition 438/1100 Shirogane Sterling Silver (.925) Fountain Pen fitted with a 21K Hard Medium-Fine (H-MF) Two-Tone Gold Nib. This Fountain Pen has never been inked, comes with all the original boxes and documentation, and I consider it in Brand New, Mint, New Old Stock Condition.
In celebration of its 110th anniversary in 2021, Sailor introduced the Shirogane—a true masterpiece and milestone in the brand’s storied history. The term sterling originates from the British “sterling pound,” a word long associated with authenticity and reliability. Across cultures worldwide, silver has carried with it countless myths and legends—revered for centuries as a material both precious and mysterious.
In this spirit, Sailor has chosen sterling silver for the barrel of this writing instrument, pairing it with the brand’s iconic anchor emblem, a symbol of trust and hope. The permanence and enduring nature of silver make it an ideal choice for a pen designed to be a faithful companion through years of daily use.
With time and handling, sterling silver develops a rich brilliance, gaining depth and character that enhance both its beauty and value. The luminous white gleam of Shirogane conveys an air of dignity and refinement that few materials can equal. More than a writing instrument, it stands as a beacon of artistry and purpose—offering a true “light of hope” to inspire the future.
This Sailor fountain pen is in flawless condition, showing no cracks, nicks, scratches, dings, dents, or signs of repair. The cap threads securely onto the barrel, ensuring a tight and reliable closure every time. While the design omits a traditional clip, the top of the cap is subtly flattened to prevent the pen from rolling when placed on a flat surface. Substantial in size, this is a larger fountain pen, measuring 6 1/4 inches capped, with a barrel diameter of approximately 17.02mm at its widest point and a solid, comfortable weight of 2.92 ounces. The end of the barrel displays the limited edition number, "0438/1100," and Japan. The top of the cap displays the iconic Sailor Anchor logo.
The Nib is 21K gold and marked, "110th, Sailor Anchor logo, 21K, 875." Stamped on the shoulder of the NIB are the letters, "H-MF" for a Hard Medium-Fine nib point. The actual tipping measures .63mm when measured with digital calipers. This fountain pen has never been inked, and I wanted to keep it this way for the new owner.
The end of the barrel is stamped with the limited edition number 438/1000 and Japan.
The Sailor uses an ink converter or ink cartridges to write with. I have tested the ink converter with water, and it works as it was designed.
This Sailor comes with the original 110th Anniversary wooden box, all the Sailor Literature, ink cartridges, polishing cloth, and pen sleeve. The box is in mint condition, literally in "brand new" condition.
The Sailor 110th Anniversary Fountain Pen is, without a doubt, a sleek and modern design. It has never been inked and is in Mint, New Old Stock condition.
