Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Rare 2018 Pelikan M1000 Peacock Maki-e Limited Edition 82 of 111 Fountain Pen fitted with an 18K Medium Nib. This fountain pen has never seen ink and comes with the original Pelikan Limited Edition literature and packing, original inner and outer boxes. I consider this Pelikan M1000 Peacock in New Old Stock, Never Inked, Mint Condition a pristine example!

NOTE: The peacock is celebrated for its vibrant feathers and unique ability to consume poisonous plants without harm, which has garnered it deep respect across cultures throughout history. As a symbol of happiness, peacocks are seen as protectors against adversity. The Maki-e release effectively highlights these admirable traits by beautifully showcasing the peafowl's striking plumage against a black background on the M1000 frame. This release not only honors the beauty of the peacock but also its cultural significance. The labor-intensive Kaga Togidashi-Maki-e technique was used to create this Peacock design. The pen is made by first applying a deep black lacquer to the barrel and cap using a traditional Japanese Urushi technique. Next, mother-of-pearl and gold granules are added, followed by a dusting of gold and silver. After these materials have dried, the peacock feathers are painted using colored urushi paints. Finally, the pen is polished and prepared for sale. Each fountain pen is individually numbered and signed by the artist. 

This Pelikan is in absolutely pristine condition! There are absolutely no nicks, chips, cracks, or repairs to this fountain pen. The cap banding is stamped on the cap lip with, "PELIKAN SOUVERAN GERMANY". The cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel—the top of the shows the "One Chick" cap logo. The back side of the cap has the limited edition number, "82/111". The lower end of the barrel has the artist's signature drawn in my hand. This Pelikan M1000 measures 5 3/4" inches in length capped and 7 1/8" inches posted.

The Piston Filler works with such ease in my tests with water. The piston filler works flawlessly and operates smoothly every time! The filling system has never seen ink!

The NIB is an 18C/750 two-tone type with a medium point. The actual fountain pen tipping/iridium measures .84mm when measured using digital calipers. This pen was never inked nor did I ink it only to keep it in New Old Stock condition for the new collector.
