Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Restored 1937 Parker Standard Vacumatic Golden Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in restored condition. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, cap and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the golden firmed trim, arrow clip, cap banding and 14K 2-Tone NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap and striped jewels to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. The cap has the Arrow Feather clip and the 3 gold filled cap bands. The gold filled trim has all been polished and does not display any brassing. The top and bottom jewels carry the same striped design as the barrel and cap and look great. The section also carries through the striped design of the overall design of the pen. The barrel imprint is faint but legible, "Geo. S. Parker Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. PAT with 1937 date code in the 1st Quarter". The transparency of the barrel is fantastic; albeit there is ambering. The cap fits securely to the barrel and the jeweled blind cap also securely fits. There are no personalizations or monograms on the barrel or cap. This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen is a 1st Generation Standard Fountain Pen that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/4" posted.

The Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 8 to 10 presses and it will fill to nearly 3/4 full. This Parker has the correct Lockdown filling unit and the filling mechanism works smoothly and flawlessly.

The 14K Parker 2-Tone NIB has a broad point measuring roughly .94mm when measured with digital calipers. The NIB has the Golden two-tone arrow NIB; most of the platinum plating on the NIB has worn away - I would say roughly 10% of the Platinum plating is still intact. When writing a sample the NIB writes with a medium line to a double broad stroke line, which is extremely smooth. The writing sample provided, the thinnest medium stroke / line measures at a medium .72mm stroke and the largest broad stroke / line measures 1.13mm when measured with digital calipers. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

Finding these early Parker Vacumatic fountain pens are harder and harder to find, especially in this type of excellent condition. Again, this one writes extremely smooth, I can't say enough about the positive writing experience when writing with this pen. It is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection. I grade this Parker Golden Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in Excellent Condition.
