Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Circa 1959 New Old Stock, Mint Condition Sheaffer PFM V Snorkel Fountain Pen in Black w/Gold Cap with the original chalk-marked barrel. This fountain pen is considered New Old Stock and Never Inked. You won't find a better PFM V example.

The PFM came in five principal models, varying by cap and trim color. What we have here is the PFM V. The PFM models are below for your reference:

PFM I - Single color plastic cap and barrel, polished stainless steel clip and cap band, and palladium silver nib. The PFM I is the only model without the White Dot.

PFM II - Frosted stainless steel cap and plastic barrel, polished stainless steel clip and cap band, and palladium silver nib.

PFM III - Single color plastic cap and barrel, gold filled clip and cap band, and a 14kt gold nib.

PFM IV - Stainless steel cap and plastic barrel, gold-filled clip and plunger cap end plate, and a 14kt gold nib.

PFM V - Gold plated cap and plastic barrel, gold filled clip and plunger cap end plate, and a 14kt gold nib.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, dings, dents, teeth marks, or repairs. There are no monograms or personalizations to the cap or the barrel. The fountain pen barrel has the original chalk markings that read, "PFM-V FINE $25.00". The cap is stamped with, "SHEAFFER Made in U.S.A." This Sheaffer PFM V Fountain Pen measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 5 5/8" posted. There is no brassing to any of the trim areas.

Installed a new rubber sac; the o-ring and point seal have all been replaced with the correct reproduction parts. The pen has been disassembled, cleaned, and inspected for any defects before reassembling. The filling unit works as it was designed to. The snorkel tube moves freely and draws ink (water) as it should.

The 14K Gold NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .56mm when measured with digital calipers. I have not written with this PFM only to keep it in New Old Stock condition. 

This Sheaffer PFM V Fountain Pen is in Mint condition with original Chalk Marks. The Fountain Pen is in ready-to-write condition or just add it to your writing arsenal collection. I would consider this Sheaffer PFM V to be in Mint, New Old Stock, and Never Inked Condition. This PFM V is magnificent and is easily a collector-grade fountain pen that should be cherished in a deserving collection.
