For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Late 1930s Sheaffer White Dot Long Slender Size Balance Fountain Pen in Carmine/Red Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new silicone sac. Hand polished the Gold Plated Clip, Cap Banding, and 14K Lifetime NIB. I also cleaned, buffed, polished, and waxed the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the White Dot with Gold Plated Clip, Cap Banding, and lever. The upper right side of the clip does display some wear and the cap banding displays a bit of wear as well. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "W.A. Sheaffer Pen Co Fort Madison, Iowa U.S.A., Made in U.S.A.". There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Sheaffer Balance Fountain Pen is a Long Slender size that measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 1/4" posted.

I have tested the lever filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Lever Filling System works excellent, as it was originally intended to.

This Sheaffer has the Lifetime 14K NIB with serial number, "F49943". The actual writing portion, the iridium, of the 14K Sheaffer Lifetime NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .68mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a double extra fine stroke/line measuring at (.33mm) and will flex up to a fine (.58mm) line with firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink. Considering this Nib writes with an XXF to F line, it writes very smooth.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is a fabulous Sheaffer Balance Fountain Pen in the Carmine Celluloid that would grade in Fine to Very Fine Condition - if the trim would be replated I would grade the pen in Excellent+ condition. Carmine celluloid ranks up there with the Rose Glow and Gray Pearl as difficult to find celluloid colors in Sheaffer Balance line - this celluloid displays wonderfully. Certainly, this fountain pen is a fantastic addition to one's fine writing arsenal collection.
