Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1924 Wahl Gold Filled Chevron Pattern Fountain Pen with Flexible #3 Nib in restored condition. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB and feed. Hand cleaned and polished the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the 14K Gold #3 Wahl NIB. I have Cleaned, Buffed, and Polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition showing no chips, cracks, gold fill loss, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap is stamped with, "WAHL PEN GOLD FILLED MADE IN U.S.A.". The cap is gold filled over metal and the barrel is gold filled over black hard rubber. Both have a chevron, or "v" like pattern etched into it with smooth areas as accents. The domes and thin beads at top and bottom of the pen are clean. There is no personalization on the cartouche. There is no brassing. This Wahl measures 4 1/2" in length capped and 6" posted.

The pen is filled via the lever system. We have installed a new sac and tested the pen and it is working well.

The Wahl #3 NIB is very fun to write with due to the fine to triple broad stroke line variation it has. The NIB has a medium, flexible point measuring roughly .73mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided in the image ranges from a fine stroke that measures .51mm on the horizontal line to a triple broad stroke+ of roughly 2.49mm with medium to firm pressure when I measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This Roaring Twenties Fountain Pen is increasingly difficult to secure in this type of very clean condition with a flexible nib. I would grade this Wahl to easily grade in Excellent Condition. Certainly, if you are a Wahl collector this is one of those types of pens you will want for your collection that is amazing to write with. The condition is outstanding for metal pens from the early-mid 1920s (90-year-old+ pen).
