Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this early Circa 1915 Waterman #15 POC Black Chased Hard Rubber Eyedropper Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition. Scarce Waterman model to find, especially in this condition which is excellent.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB and feed. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel, cap, and section with mineral oil. Cleaned the outside of the cap and barrel with mineral oil and the hard rubber displays a nice black color (very minimal oxidation) with magnificent crisp chasing.

This fountain pen is made from black chased hard rubber. This is an Eyedropper Fountain Pen and that means you would unscrew the section to add the ink via an eyedropper. The barrel has great imprints at the center that read, "PAT'D 1884 MAY 23 1899 WATERMAN'S FOUNTAIN PEN N.Y. U.S.A. PAT'D MAY 23, 1899 & AUG 3, 1903 U.S.A". The butt end of the fountain pen has a very crisp 15 POC imprint (POC stands for POCKET CARRY).

The cap is a screw-on type cap always securing tightly to the barrel with a bright white Nickel Clip. There are no monograms to either the cap or barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #15 measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 7/8" posted.

The Waterman NIB is a #5 Accountant type that is very rigid with no flex. The actual tip of the Waterman 14K NIB measures .62mm with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a medium line measuring .67mm when being measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Waterman #15 is a tough model to acquire, it is a scarce fountain pen made around 1915. Just after 1915 Waterman started to change to a different model numbering system. This Waterman is extremely clean with crisp, clean chasing and would consider it collector grade. I would consider this Waterman #15 to easily grade in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add to your writing arsenal collection
