Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1920s Waterman #7 Red Ripple Hard Rubber Fountain Pen with the Brown Keyhole NIB. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap. Cleaned, buffed, and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, properly sized, silicone sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding, Gold Filled Waterman Clip, Gold Filled Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman 14K Red Keyhole NIB.

This fountain pen is made from hard rubber in the Red Ripple pattern. The coloring is gorgeous displaying a consistent red and black coloring. The Red Ripple pattern matching perfectly. The lever is clean with no wear of the 18K gold-filled material. The Waterman Ideal Clip-Cap Clip displays a touch of wear on the high-point of the ball. The gold-filled cap banding displays a touch of wear along the upper edge of the cap band. The barrel has the imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG US IDEAL GLOBE PAT OFF FOUNTAIN PEN RIPPLE". The butt end of the fountain pen has a crisp number "7" imprint. The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the BROWN banding and has been replaced with a reproduction one. There are no monograms or personalization to either the cap or barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #7 measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 7 3/16" posted.

The lever and box assembly has been cleaned and greased. I have tested the lever filling system with water and works flawlessly and as it was originally intended to.

This Waterman has a Brown Keyhole Nib Made in the USA. The Brown color coded Waterman Nib is known for being Fine, Flexible nib when writing and is coveted by collectors. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring .58mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a fine line with very light pressure measuring roughly .47mm and will flex upwards to a triple broad stroke of 2.30mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The Nib has excellent responsiveness and writes very smoothly - overall a great pen to write with. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is antique Waterman #7 Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition using the incredible flexible NIB. I would consider the condition of this fountain pen to grade in excellent condition and certainly one of the cleanest fountain pens I have handled. This Waterman #7 is collector grade and would be an example to add to your writing arsenal collection.
