Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored Circa 1927 Waterman #7 Red Ripple Hard Rubber Fountain Pen with Green Cap Band & Green Keyhole NIB. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Cleaned and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, properly sized sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding, Gold Filled Waterman Ideal Clip-Cap, 18K Gold Filled Ideal Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman 14K GREEN KEYHOLE NIB.

This fountain pen is made from hard rubber in the red ripple design. The coloring is absolutely amazing red and black color. The barrel has the imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFFICE FOUNTAIN PEN". The lower portion of the barrel has the imprint that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFFICE MADE IN U.S.A." and the butt end of the fountain pen has the 7 imprint.

The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The original Green cap banding deteriorated and has been replaced with a replica casein Green banding. There are no monograms or personalizations on either the cap or barrel. There are no cracks, nicks, or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #7 measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 7 3/16" posted.

The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. It works flawlessly and smoothly in my tests with water. The Globe and Ideal imprint on the lever are crisp and clean with only a hint of wear at the top and bottom of the IDEAL GLOBE and along the arm. The Waterman Ideal Clip displays no wear. The gold-filled cap banding shows an ever so slight brassing at the upper edge but very light.

This Waterman has the not-so-common Green Keyhole Nib. The Green color-coded Waterman Nib is known for having a Medium manifold stroke popular among stenographers. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring .80mm when measured with digital calipers. The Nib has no cracks, ready for use. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a medium line measuring roughly between .62mm to .82mm with firm pressure. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

This is antique Waterman #7 Fountain Pen is in ready-to-write condition. The Red Ripple color is amazing and is of collector quality. I would consider the condition of this fountain in excellent+ condition and certainly a collector grade writing instrument to add to one's collection.
