Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1920s Waterman #7 Red Ripple Hard Rubber Fountain Pen with the Red Keyhole NIB. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap. Cleaned, buffed, and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new silicone sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding, Gold Filled Waterman Clip, Gold Filled Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman 14K Red Keyhole NIB.

This fountain pen is made from hard rubber in the Red Ripple pattern. The coloring is gorgeous displaying consistent red and black coloring. The Red Ripple pattern matching perfectly. The lever is clean displaying no wear on the arm. The Waterman Ideal Clip-Cap Clip displays just a hint of wear on the top of the ball on the clip but has been polished bright. The gold-filled cap banding displays some very minor wear along the top edging of the banding. The barrel has a crisp and clean imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG US IDEAL GLOBE PAT OFF FOUNTAIN PEN". The butt end of the fountain pen has a crisp number "7" imprint. The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the RED banding and is original. There are no monograms or personalization to either the cap or barrel. There are no cracks, nicks, or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #7 measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 7 3/16" posted.

The lever and box assembly has been cleaned and oiled. I have tested the lever filling systems with water and works flawlessly and as it was originally intended to.

This Waterman has a Red Keyhole Nib Made in the USA. The Red color-coded Waterman Nib is known for being Medium and Flexible when writing and is coveted by collectors. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring .73mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a fine line with very light pressure measuring roughly .51mm on the horizontal strokes and will flex upwards to a triple broad stroke of 1.82mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The Nib has excellent responsiveness and writes very smoothly. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

This Waterman #7 Fountain Pen is in ready-to-write condition using the incredible Red Keyhole NIB. I would consider the condition of this fountain pen to grade in Excellent+ condition and certainly one very smooth writer. This Waterman #7 is collector grade and would be a fabulous example to add to your writing arsenal collection.
