Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1927 Waterman #56 Red Ripple Hard Rubber Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new rubber sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding, Gold Filled Waterman Clip, Gold Filled Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman 14K #6 NIB.

This fountain pen is made from hard rubber in the Red Ripple pattern. The coloring is gorgeous displaying deep red and black coloring. The lever box assembly very clean with "IDEAL" on the lever with no wear of the gold-filled material. The Waterman Ideal Clip-Cap displays no wear and polished to shine brightly. The gold-filled cap banding is excellent with only some minor wear to a couple of spots the top edging of the banding again polished to a bright shine. This Waterman 56 barrel has a clean imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFF. FOUNTAIN PEN". The butt end of the fountain pen has a crisp number "56" imprint. The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalization to either the cap or barrel. There are no cracks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #56 measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 6 7/8" posted.

The lever and box assembly has been cleaned and oiled. I have tested the lever filling systems with water and works flawlessly and as it was originally intended to.

This Waterman has a 14K Gold WATERMAN IDEAL #6 Nib. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring .53mm when measured with digital calipers - a fine nib point. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a Fine to Triple Broad stroke/line variation. The fine line measures roughly .53mm with light pressure and will flex to a triple stroke measuring at 1.91mm with firm to medium pressure when measured with digital calipers. The Nib is excellent flex and responsiveness. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.
