Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored circa 1927 Waterman #7 Red Ripple Hard Rubber Fountain Pen with Green Cap Band & NIB. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Cleaned and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, properly sized, silicone sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding, Gold Filled Waterman Ideal Clip-Cap, 18K Gold Filled Ideal Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman 14K #7 GREEN KEYHOLE NIB.

This fountain pen is made from hard rubber in the red ripple design. The coloring is absolutely amazing red and black color. The barrel has the imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFFICE FOUNTAIN PEN" - the imprint is light but legible. The lower portion of the barrel has the imprint that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFFICE MADE IN U.S.A." and the butt end of the fountain pen has the 7 imprint. The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap retains the original Green cap banding to the pen which does display crazing. There are no monograms on the cap or barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #7 measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 7 3/16" posted.

The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. It works flawlessly and smoothly in my tests with water. The Globe and Ideal imprint on the lever are crisp and clean with only a hint of wear on a tiny spot of the lever arm. The Waterman Ideal Clip displays wear to the overall clip with much of the gold fill material worn, which can be replated easily. The gold-filled cap banding shows ever so slight wear on the upper edge.

This Waterman has the not so common Green Keyhole Nib. The Green color-coded Waterman Nib is known for having Medium manifold popular among stenographers. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring .85mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a fine line measuring roughly .58mm on the horizontal strokes and will flex up to a broad line of roughly 1.01mm with firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is antique Waterman #7 Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition. The Red Ripple coloring is very vibrant and displays most excellent. I would consider the condition of this fountain in Very Fine Condition - not perfect, but certainly, a worthy writing instrument example to add to one's collection.
