Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Fabulous Restored Circa Early 1930s Waterman 94 Fountain Pen in the Gray & Red Marbled Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition. The color of the celluloid is outstanding and vibrant!

This fountain pen is made from celluloid in the gray with red speck pattern. The coloring on the cap and barrel really displays fabulously - the colors pop! The barrel imprint at the center of the barrel is crisp and clean that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFF MADE IN USA FOUNTAIN PEN". There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the celluloid.

There are no chips, cracks, or repair to the fountain pen and the threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap. Cleaned, Buffed, and Polished the outside of the cap and barrel to bring back the vibrancy of the material and to protect the celluloid. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new rubber sac. Hand polished the Nickel Plated Clip, Cap Banding, and Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman Ideal 14K NIB. Collector Note: The Clip is the Riveted type and is typically seen on the earlier models these date to 1930 to 1938. The clip is clean with no wear along with the lever arm. The cap banding is the only part of the trim that displays little wear. Overall the trim is all very bright and clean. There are no monograms or personalization to either the cap or barrel. This Waterman 94 measures 5" in length capped and 6 3/8" posted.

The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills wonderfully.

This Waterman 14K Ideal nib has some flexibility all while writing reasonably smooth. When measuring the actual tip of the 14K Ideal NIB, it measures at .64mm with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a fine line measuring roughly .58mm with very light pressure and flexes up to a double broad stroke of 1.46mm with a firm to medium pressure. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

These vintage Waterman 94 Fountain Pens are becoming harder to find. This Gray Marble with Red Speck pattern is vibrant with bright white trim. I would consider the color of the celluloid to be in Excellent to NearMint Condition with the gold-filled trim being in Excellent condition. The overall fountain pen would grade in Excellent. A fantastic collector grade addition to your writing arsenal collection.
