Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored Circa late 1920s Waterman Patrician Fountain Pen with Gold Filled Trim in Onyx Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished, and Waxed the outside of the cap and barrel to bring back the vibrancy of the material and to protect the celluloid. The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly. There are no personalizations or monograms either the cap or the barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the celluloid. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new, rubber sac. Hand polished the Gold Filled Clip, Cap Banding, and Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman Patrician 14K NIB. This Waterman Patrician measures 5 1/2" in length capped and 6 7/8" posted.

The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. It works flawlessly and smoothly. The lever is crisp and clean with no wear to the gold filled plating. The Clip has been polished and displays no wear. The cap banding is also in excellent condition displaying no brassing.

This fountain pen is made from celluloid Onyx color comprising of ivory celluloid with red veins, red section, feed, cap lip, and ends. The barrel is clearly stamped at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFF MADE IN USA FOUNTAIN PEN". The butt end of the fountain pen has the Gold Plated Waterman medallion.

This Waterman Patrician has an enormous 14K nib that writes smoothly with a fairly firm point. When measuring the actual tip of the Patrician NIB, it measures at .68mm with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with an extra fine line measuring roughly .43mm with very light pressure on the horizontal strokes and flexes up to .77mm with normal to medium pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

These Waterman Patrician Fountain Pens are scarce and desirable. This one is in ready to write condition after my restoration and I would consider the Fountain Pen to be in excellent condition. Truly a collector grade writing instrument that would be an excellent addition to your writing arsenal collection.
