Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1939 Parker Double Jewel Vacumatic Major Size Fountain Pen in the Emerald Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Blue Diamond Gold Filled Arrow Clip, Cap Band, and 14K Gold NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished  the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.

The celluloid on this Parker Vacumatic is lovely and vibrant! The fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Blue Diamond Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip displaying no wear but there is scuff mark on the backside of the clip (very small but point it out for clarity sake). The Gold Filled Chevron Cap Banding displays a wonderful gold filled color with no wear. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap and barrel and polished to a great shine. The gold filled blind cap tassie has a gorgeous gold filled color that displays no brassing but has a couple scuff marks. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. with a date code 9 (for 1939) in the 3rd quarter". The transparency of the barrel is "Water Clear" as one can easily see through it. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen is a Major Size measuring 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This Parker Vacumatic has a Speedline Filling Unit that works great, typically in my tests with water about 10 to 13 presses and it will fill roughly full. I have greased the filling unit and now operates smoothly and works flawlessly.

This Parker has 14K NIB that writes smoothly. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .76mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the images, the NIB writes with a fine to medium/broad stroke. The fine stroke measures at .54mm with light pressure and the medium/broad stroke measures .92mm under medium pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink.

This Parker Emerald Pearl Major Fountain Pen doesn't get much better - the celluloid is vibrant and looks incredible and the barrel has near perfect transparency. I would consider this Parker Vac to be easily in Very Fine to Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
