NOTE: The Montblanc 888 series for JP Morgam is a solid 18K gold cap, barrel, and nib. These are very exclusive Montblanc writing instruments that many collectors or users will never have a chance to own due to only 888 pieces were ever made.
With its clear design, the barrel brings back to life the Age of Industrialisation. The finely engraved M on the rhodium-plated 18-karat gold nib is reminiscent not only of a great financier but also of his immortal legacy: the Morgan Library.
The cap and barrel are in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, dings, dents, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. The 18K gold and alternating gold and carbon fiber chevron pattern cap work is beautiful and very detailed. The entire fountain pen shines brilliantly. This Montblanc is a limited edition number, "175 of 888" and is imprinted on the blind cap. The 18K solid gold barrel is stamped with, " 750, StØD, 750Balance/Scale, and Bear's Head". The original "MEDIUM" sticker is still attached to the cap. The fountain pen measures 5 5/8" capped and 6 5/8" posted.
This Montblanc fountain pen uses a piston filling system, I have tested it with water, and works as it was designed to. It is in perfect working order and does so very smoothly. This pen has never seen ink and is in considered in Mint, New Old Stock condition.
The Rhodium-plated 18K/750 gold nib commemorates the great financier and art lover whose legacy is one of the world's largest and most important collections in the world. The nib is stamped with, "2004, 4810, 18K 750 MONTBLANC". The nib point (iridium) measures .86mm when measured with digital calipers. To preserve its pristine condition, I refrained from using ink on the pen, ensuring that the next owner will receive an exceptional writing experience.
This Montblanc comes in the original Montblanc wooden lacquered box, outer storage factory box, and Limited Edition Booklet.
John Pierpont Morgan was not only one of the most influential financial magnates during America’s “Golden Age”, but also an enthusiastic lover and patron of the arts. His legacy has its most impressive manifestation in the Morgan Library which he founded in New York: in one of the world’s largest collections of significant works from art, literature, music, and history, masterpieces from the Middle Ages can be found next to classics of the Modern Age.
This Montblanc Patron of the Arts JP Morgan Fountain Pen is a truly spectacular and refined writing tool, skillfully created and designed in Germany. It is in impeccable condition, having never been used with ink, and would make a fantastic addition to any writing collection. I would classify this Montblanc JP Morgan Fountain Pen as being in pristine, mint, never inked, and new old stock condition.
I am always very focused on my fountain restoration and I continually forget to take before and after photos to show potential and current clients the labor of love that I have been blessed to do as a business.
Today we have a YouTube video review from a customer that recently purchased a Parker 51 Restoration service from yours truly. Troy LaPlante, of Fountain Pen Fanatic, created a video showing his pen mail with the restoration that I completed.
Every day I am learning something new in this fountain pen world. I have been collecting fountains pen for roughly eight years now. Only in the last 14 months have I become absolutely emersed in the hobby and trying to make a healthy living at it.
