Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Lovely Restored 1941 Parker Senior Maxima Vacumaitc Double Jewel Fountain Pen in the Azure Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Blue Diamond Clip, Chevron Cap Banding, 14K 2-Tone Parker NIB, and Gold Filled Blind Cap Tassie. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima size that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Split Arrow Blue Diamond Gold Filled Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding displaying absolutely no brassing. The barrel has very good transparency with a person easily being able to see through it, albeit with minor to mild ambering. The top and bottom jewels are black and have been polished to a gorgeous high shine. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. with a Date Code 1 (for 1941) in the 3rd Quarter". The blind cap securely fits with the Gold Filled tassie displaying no brassing.

I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12 to 15 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly and flawlessly. The Speedline filling system is the correct filling unit for 2nd generation Parker Vacumatics, which this Vac is.

This Parker Vacumatic has the 14K 2-Tone NIB which writes smoothly. The 2-Tone Platinum coating is 97% intact and displays a couple of wear spots on the right shoulder. When at the Parker Factory, the individual cutting the tines went passed the breather hole a tiny bit as one can see in the photo - it does not compromise the nib nor does it affect the ink flow or writing - I point this out for clarity sake. Lastly, there are two light scratches in the right shoulder of the nib - again, it does not compromise the writing of the nib and is a very minor cosmetic blemish. The actual 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .61mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to broad stroke. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .62mm (with light pressure) and the broad stroke measures at 1.12mm with firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was completed by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is a great vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the Azure Pearl Celluloid that is in Very Fine to Excellent Condition. This is a very scarce Parker Vacumatic to find in the Azure Pearl celluloid and the Senior Maxima size. The azure color was manufactured for roughly 18 months that started approximately in mid-1940 - compared to 4+ years for the other Vacumatic colors. This fabulous Parker Senior Maxima is ready to write or add to your writing arsenal collection.
