Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Never Inked Limited Edition Montblanc Virginia Woolf Fountain Pen from the 2006 Writer's Series. This particular pen is limited edition number 7985 out of 16000. This pen comes with the original boxes and Montblanc International Service Certificate/Reply Card. This fountain pen has never been inked and is considered in Mint, New Old Stock Condition fitted with an 18K Medium nib.

To mark the 75th anniversary of the publication of 'THE WAVES", Montblanc launched the 2006 edition of unique writing instruments dedicated to the memory of the pioneer of feminist literature, the Virginia Woolf Writers Edition. 75 years after the publication of the novel “The Waves”, finely engraved guilloche work recalls Virginia Woolf’s most outstanding work and her eventful life. In the form of waves, the guilloche work covers the body of jet-black precious resin, underlining the lightly curved silhouette. The most eye-catching feature is a faceted ruby on the gilt clip, symbolizing the individuality of Virginia Woolf’s avant-garde style and the climax of her literary creation.

All of the gold-plated trim, cap, and barrel are in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, scratches, dings, dents, blemishes, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. The fountain pen measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 3/8" posted. The blind cap is stamped with the Limited Edition number 07985/16000 and the Virginia Woolf signature. The top of the cap displays the famous Montblanc snowcap

This Montblanc fountain pen uses a piston filling system that I have tested with water and works as it was designed to. Additionally, when removing the piston from the pen, there were never any traces of ink. This is how I have concluded the fountain pen has never been inked.

This pen has an 18K gold nib and the engraved nib reveals the tragic end of the successful writer displaying two elm trees, under which Virginia Woolf found her last resting place on her estate in Sussex in 1941, are masterfully engraved for eternity in this 18K nib. The nib is engraved with "4810, 18K/750, Montblanc, 2006". The Montblanc NIB's writing portion (iridium) measures roughly .87mm when measured with digital calipers.  This nib is designated as a Medium which matches the box that designated the pen to be a medium nib point. I never inked the pen only to keep it in New Old Stock, Mint, Never Inked Condition for the new collector.

Virginia Woolf is regarded as a pioneer of classical modernism, credited with developing the "interior monologue" technique, which she used consistently in "The Waves" (1931). Her novels "Orlando" and "Mrs. Dalloway" are milestones in feminist literature, employing autobiographical elements and feminine subjectivity. Woolf's rejection of Victorian conventions and literary traditions was derived from her strong character and outstanding intellect.

This Limited Edition Writer's Series paying homage to Virginia Woolf is in Mint Condition, Never Inked, with the original boxes and documentation. It is in Perfect example and guaranteed to be an original Montblanc writing instrument. A superb writing instrument to add to your writing arsenal collection!
