For your consideration, we are pleased to offer for sale this exceptional Circa 1990–1991 Montblanc Meisterstück LeGrand No. 146 Fountain Pen fitted with a 14K Two-Tone Medium nib. This example is truly New Old Stock—never inked, never dipped, and preserved in remarkable Mint condition with the original box, literature, and original “W. Germany M” nib sticker still adhered to the barrel.
Finding a Montblanc 146 in this level of preservation has become increasingly difficult. Most examples from this era have seen years of use, polishing, or repair, but this pen remains a true collector-grade time capsule.
This particular LeGrand features all of the highly desirable early production characteristics collectors look for: the 14K bi-color nib, ebonite feed, two-section barrel construction, blue-grey ink window, and brass piston filling mechanism. The cap clip ring is stamped “W. Germany” on the left side and carries serial number “IB116078” on the right, while the original nib sticker reads “W. Germany M.” These features place production firmly in the highly collectible 1990–1991 transitional period.
Condition is simply outstanding. The cap and barrel are in magnificent Mint condition with no chips, cracks, scratches, teeth marks, repairs, or signs of use. The black precious resin retains a deep, rich gloss, and the pen presents exactly as a properly preserved new old stock example should.
The white snowcap emblem remains crisp and bright, while the gold-plated clip and cap bands show absolutely no wear whatsoever. The cap band is correctly stamped “MONTBLANC MEISTERSTÜCK No. 146,” and the cap threads engage perfectly, securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personal engravings.
One of the strongest indicators of originality and careful preservation is the ink-view window, which remains exceptionally clear—what collectors often refer to as “water clear.” This is a feature rarely seen on pens of this age and strongly supports its never-inked status.
The pen measures 5 5/8" capped, 6 1/4" posted, and weighs 1.03 ounces, giving it the perfect balance and proportions that have made the 146 one of Montblanc’s most iconic writing instruments.
The brass piston filling system has been tested with water only and functions exactly as designed—smooth, tight, and ready for use should the next owner choose to ink it. However, I have intentionally kept this pen completely free from ink so its untouched condition remains intact for the new collector.
The 14K bi-color Montblanc nib is a Medium point measuring approximately .82mm using digital calipers. It remains in untouched factory condition, having never been inked or dipped.
This is exactly the kind of Montblanc 146 serious collectors wait years to find—a genuine W. Germany era LeGrand preserved in true Mint, Never Inked, New Old Stock condition with its original presentation materials intact.
Quite simply, why pay boutique pricing of $800+ for a modern production Montblanc when you can own an earlier, more collectible W. Germany example in better-than-new collector condition for significantly less?
This is not just a fountain pen—it is a collector-grade store of value and one of the finest Montblanc 146 examples you are likely to encounter.
