This Montblanc is a masterful tribute to the celebrated creator of Sherlock Holmes. This example has not been inked and comes with the Montblanc literature and the Book box the fountain pen came housed in.
Montblanc’s Writers Edition series has long stood as a pinnacle of literary homage, blending storytelling, symbolism, and craftsmanship into one refined writing instrument. The 2021 edition honors Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930), whose immortal detective Sherlock Holmes defined the modern mystery genre and captured the world’s imagination through his tales of intellect, deduction, and intrigue.
Crafted from precious blue-grey resin, the pen’s design draws inspiration from the fog-draped streets of Victorian London, evoking the moody ambiance of Holmes’ world at 221B Baker Street. The subtle check pattern engraved into the barrel recalls Holmes’s iconic tweed coat, while the cap features a silhouette of a London street map — a nod to the detective’s unending pursuit through the labyrinthine city. The initials JB are found beneath the PVD-coated, magnifying glass-shaped clip in an homage to Joseph Bell: the very real man behind the Sherlock Holmes character.

The nib remains uninked and pristine, yet these Montblanc nibs are celebrated for their exceptionally smooth and responsive writing performance. This example is a medium point, measuring approximately 0.84mm when verified with digital calipers.
The cap top bears the Montblanc white snowcap emblem. The trim is platinum-coated, displaying no wear. The limited edition number “2494/9000” is discreetly engraved on the side of the cap, as shown in image 10, attesting to its limited and collectible nature.
The fountain pen measures approximately 5 3/4 inches capped and weighs 1.59 ounces. This fountain pen is not meant to be posted. The fountain pen has a satisfying balance in hand — substantial yet comfortable, ideal for both writing and display. The pen fills via Montblanc’s piston mechanism, which I have tested with water, and it works as designed.
