Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1939 Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Double Jewel Fountain Pen in the Emerald Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now in wonderful writing condition. This Parker Senior Maxima has the "Marca Registrada" imprint which was made for the South American market.

The NIB, Feed, Section, and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (///\\\) Banding, 14K Parker NIB, and bottom tassel. I have Cleaned, Buffed, Polished, and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of the fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Senior Maxima that measures 5 3/8" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain barrel is in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has a tiny hairline crack (see image) that measures 2mm in length - it can be repaired. The Emerald Pearl color is simply beautiful with vibrant emerald color. The cap has the Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding displaying no brassing. The top and bottom jewels are black and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. Date Code 9 for 1939 in the 4th quarter and MARCA REGISTRADA". The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Maxima Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works great. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12-15 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker NIB is 14K Gold with a medium point that measures .68mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .59mm to .89mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This vintage Parker Vacumatic Senior Maxima Fountain Pen is sleek, refined, and BIG. This Emerald Pearl Celluloid really makes a statement and doesn't get much better than this. I would consider this Maxima Set to be in Fine to Very Fine Condition due to the hairline in the cap lip which is the only flaw in this pen and the reason why the price is what it is - if the hairline was not there it would be in Excellent+ condition and be a $750 pen. It is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
