Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1940 Parker Vacumatic Double Jewel Fountain Pen in the Silver Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition.

The nib, feed, section, and breather tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized-one. I have hand-polished the Nickel plated Arrow Clip, Two Ring Cap Banding, 14K Parker nib, and bottom tassie. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic measures 5 1/8" capped and 6" posted - this Vacumatic is known as a Junior due to the two-ring cap banding and no blue diamond clip but is the same size as the Major.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Silver Pearl color is simply beautiful with a silver and black coloring. The cap clip displays no wear and is in perfect condition. The 2-ring cap banding is polished to shine brightly again but displays some minor wear. The top and bottom jewels are black and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC with the MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 0 (for 1940) in the 1st Quarter". The barrel transparency has medium ambering. The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and it fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, in my tests with water, it takes about 12-15 presses to fill nearly full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker Vacumatic nib is 14K Gold with a medium point that measures .76mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to broad/double broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .64mm to 1.20mm with medium to firm pressure when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink. The nib will write with a smooth, wet line - if you like that type of nib you will enjoy this one.

This Parker Silver Pearl Double Jewel Fountain Pen has great celluloid coloring and the trim is very good, especially the clip which displays no wear, it is frosty white. I would consider this Parker Vac to grade in Very Fine to Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
