Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1953 Parker Vacumatic Maxima Single Fountain Pen in the Burgundy celluloid made in France. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in fantastic writing condition.

NOTE: This Parker is French made which we do not see much of in the USA. These were in production from around 1945 to 1953. The last image in this listing shows the French advertisement for this model. This is a scarce Maxima to acquire.

The NIB, Feed, Section, and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized-one. I hand-polished the gold-filled Split Arrow Clip, 3-Ring Cap Banding, and 18C Parker NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a French Maxima that measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/2" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing to the barrel. This fountain pen has a burgundy color with a burgundy cap jewel. The cap has the Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip with the 3-Ring Banding which has been polished to a bright shine.  The cap banding displays no wear. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "PARKER MADE IN FRANCE". The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This French Parker Maxima Vacumatic uses a "Speedline" filling unit where I replaced the old diaphragm with a new one. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 12-15 presses to fill nearly full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker Maxima has a wonderful writing 18C Broad nib point (iridium) that measures 1.03mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a wet medium to double broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .71mm to 1.67mm with firm pressure when measuring with digital calipers. The nib on the Maxima writes smoothly, it is a great experience using this nib. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This Parker French Maxima Fountain Pen doesn't come up very often, in fact, this is the first one I ever had a chance to secure for my collection. These are very tough to acquire and this one is a spectacular writing and the condition Near Mint. It is a fantastic Parker Vacumatic that is ready to write with and add it to your writing arsenal collection.
