Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Cleaned, Polished and Buffed the outside of the barrel and cap and now the gold overlay shines brightly. The pattern on this fountain pen is typically known as a Stars and Ribbon pattern. There is no gold fill loss to speak of. A very clean example.
This fountain pen is made from black hard rubber with a fancy Stars with Ribbon Cartouche gold overlay and is an Eyedropper style. There is a monogram on the barrel ribbon cartouche area that reads, "L.R.". There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the hard rubber. This fountain pen measures 3 5/8" in length capped and 4 3/4" posted.
The NIB is a wonderfully flexible and smooth Cambridge 14K #3 NIB. The actual tip of the 14K NIB measures with a medium point of .61mm with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with an extra fine line measuring .43mm with very light pressure and flexes up to triple broad stroke+ of 2.48mm with medium to firm pressure. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
This is an excellent example of an antique Stars and Ribbon Eye/InkDropper Fountain Pen with Gold Overlay on Black Hard Rubber. I would certainly grade it in Very Fine t0 Excellent Condition and one for the collector case. It is ready to write or just add to your writing arsenal collection.
