The Mandarin Yellow Duofold has long been considered one of Parker's most iconic and collectible color variations. Its brilliant yellow celluloid stands apart from virtually every other vintage fountain pen produced during the Golden Age, making surviving examples in original, crack-free condition increasingly difficult to acquire. As part of the restoration, the feed and section were ultrasonically cleaned, the original sac was replaced with a new latex sac, and the filling system was completely serviced. For complete transparency, there is a slightly darker shade of Mandarin immediately above the barrel threads—an area normally protected by the cap when the pen is closed. The pen retains its original button-filling system, now restored with a new latex sac. The filling mechanism has been tested with water and operates exactly as Parker intended, providing smooth and dependable performance.
The original 14K Parker Duofold nib, stamped "PARKER DUOFOLD PEN B," features a Medium point. The tipping measures approximately 0.74 mm using digital calipers. During testing, the nib produced a smooth, consistent medium line ranging from approximately 0.61 mm to 0.76 mm. The accompanying writing sample was created using this exact pen after dip-testing with Graf von Faber-Castell Cobalt Blue Ink, demonstrating the smooth writing qualities that made the Duofold one of Parker's greatest successes.
