Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this restored 1937 Parker Golden Pearl Celluloid Double Jewel Vacumatic Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in fantastic writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the feed, section, & breather tube. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Feather Clip, Gold Filled Three Ring Cap Banding, and 14K NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the cap, barrel, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The barrel has very good barrel transparency, albeit with mild ambering. The cap has the Feather Gold Plated Clip with triple ring cap bands displaying a wonderful bright gold-filled color with no wear. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap and barrel which have been polished to shine great again. The barrel is stamped with an imprint that reads, "GEO S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN USA with a 27 date code (for 1937) in the 2nd quarter". The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen is a Standard Size Model that has a wider diameter cap and barrel than the standard juniors from this era. It measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted.

The Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water in about 12 to 15 presses and it will roughly fill full. This Parker Vac 1st Generation Fountain Pen has the lockdown filling unit, typical on 1st generation Vacs. This filling unit has been greased, operates smoothly, and works as it was originally designed to.

This Vacumatic comes with 14K Parker Vacumatic nib, it is a 1938 replacement but still a Vacumatic nib. This Parker Vacumatic Nib writes very smoothly, a real pleasure to write with. The nib has a fine point (iridium) that measures roughly .54mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided in the image has the Nib writing with a fine/medium stroke measuring .48mm and will flex to a medium stroke of .87mm with medium to firm writing pressure when measured with digital calipers. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

This is a gorgeous Parker 1st Generation Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the Vibrant Golden Pearl Celluloid. I would grade this Parker Vac to be in Excellent+ Condition only due to the mild ambering of the barrel transparency.

Don't let this one get away, the Vacs in this condition rarely show up in today's market anymore. This Parker Standard 1st Generation Double Jewel Vacumatic is collector grade and is ready to write with or just add to your writing arsenal collection.
