Description

For your consideration we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored 1937 1st Generation Parker Double Jewel Silver Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in the Standard Size. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

The NIB, Feed, Section and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Nickel Plated Feather Split Arrow Clip, 3-Ring Cap Banding, 14K Parker 2-Tone NIB and bottom tassel. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Standard Size that measures 5 1/8" capped and 6 1/4" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The silver pearl color is extremely vibrant and gorgeous to look at. The cap has the Feather Split Arrow Nickel Plated Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding. The top and bottom jewels are striped to match the cap, barrel, section, and blind cap of the fountain pen and have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with date code 7 for 1937 in the 1st Quarter". The barrel has good transparency, albeit with ambering. The blind cap securely fits and the tassel has a bit of brassing to the edge high points. The cap and barrel do not have any personalizations or monograms.

I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Lock-Down Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 8 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly and flawlessly. The Lock-Down filling system is the correct filling unit for 1st generation Parker Vacumatics, which this Vac is.

This Parker NIB is a USA PARKER 14K Gold, 2-Tone type and has a fine point. The 2-tone platinum plated coating is showing some wear from the years of polishing. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .61mm when measured with digital calipers. I want to point out that the NIB on this Parker is Extremely Smooth - a great pleasure to write with. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line in the writing sample measures at .69mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is one of those vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pens you don't always get a chance to secure in your collection. It has all the high-end features; striped jewels and section, 3-Ring Cap Band, two-tone nib, excellent color in a 1st Generation Standard Size. I would consider this to be in Excellent Condition, it is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
