I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Clip, Chevron Cap Band, Bottom Jewel Tassel and 14K Parker NIB. Additionally, I cleaned, buffed, polished and waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to protect the celluloid bring back the vibrancy of this fountain pen.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The color is a lovely burgundy color that really displays quite well. This cap displays the Split Arrow Gold Filled Blue Diamond Clip and Chevron Cap Banding (///\\\), which displays no brassing. The top and bottom jewels are black and been polished to bring back a beautiful shine. The barrel imprint is clearly and crisply stamped with, "MADE IN CANADA PARKER VACUMATIC PAT NO. 318982 REG T.M.S. with Date code 9 (for 1939) in the 3rd Quarter". The transparency of the barrel is very good and a person can easily see through the barrel, albeit with some ambering. The blind cap securely fits.
This 2nd Generation Parker Vacumatic has the correct Speedline Filling Unit. The Vacumatic Speedline Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 7-8 presses to fill full. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size, which measures 5 1/4" in length capped and 6 1/8" posted.
The Parker Canada NIB is a 14K gold Split Arrow NIB and extremely flexible. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .79mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a medium to triple broad stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at roughly .67mm and the triple broad stroke line measures 1.95mm when measured with digital calipers under medium to firm pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is a Vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen displaying a fabulous Burgundy Pearl color. I would grade this Parker in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write with or just add to writing arsenal collection.
