Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1940 Parker Double Jewel Vacumatic Fountain Pen in Emerald Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Feather Split Arrow Clip, 2-Ring Cap Banding, and 14K Gold NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, polished & waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of the fountain pen. The celluloid on this Parker Vacumatic is lovely and vibrant!

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip displaying no wear. The Gold Filled Cap Banding displays a wonderful gold filled color with no wear. The top and bottom jewels are black and polished to a great shine. The barrel is crisp and clearly stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. with a date code 0 (for 1941) in the 4th quarter". The transparency of the barrel is very good as one can see through it, albeit with mild to medium ambering. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations on the cap or barrel. This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen is a Junior due to the 2-ring cap banding and not the Chevron cap banding, but it the same as a Major Size measuring 5 1/8" in length capped and 6" posted.

The 2nd Generation Speedline Filling Unit works great, typically in my tests with water about 7 to 9 presses and it will fill roughly full. I have greased the filling unit and now operates smoothly and works flawlessly. 2nd Generation Speedline filling units were manufactured from 1938 to 1941 and this Parker Vac has the proper filling unit for a 2nd Generation Vac, which this is.

This Parker has a correctly dated 1940 (barrel and nib marriage). This 14K NIB that writes smoothly with a wet line. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .68mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the images, the NIB writes with a medium to double broad stroke. The medium stroke measures at .62mm with light pressure and the double broad stroke measures 1.27mm under medium pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink. Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Parker Vacumatic Double Jewel Emerald Pearl Fountain Pen displays fabulously and writes with a smooth, semi-flex nib. I would grade this Parker to be in the Excellent Condition. This fine Parker writing instrument is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
