Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Fabulous Restored 1940 Parker Vacumatic Long Major "MARCA REGISTRADA" Double Jewel Fountain Pen in the Burgundy Pearl Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition. The "Marca Registrada" imprint tells a collector that this pen was made for the South American market.

The Feed, Section, and Breather Tube have been ultrasonically cleaned. I replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Split Arrow Clip, Chevron Cap (///\\\) Banding, 14K Parker NIB, and bottom tassel. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy of the fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Parker Vacumatic is a Long Major that measures 5 5/16" capped and 6 1/8" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs, and the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Burgundy Pearl color is simply beautiful with vibrant Burgundy color. The cap has the Blue Diamond Split Arrow Gold Filled Clip with the Chevron Cap Banding displaying no brassing. The top and bottom jewels have been polished to a high shine. The barrel is stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MARCA REGISTRADA - the MADE IN U.S.A. and date code "0" (for 1940) in the 4th Quarter are worn and only seen under magnification in the proper lighting and that is tough to see". The barrel transparency is near water clear with mild ambering The blind cap securely fits. The cap and barrel are free of any personalizations or monograms.

This Parker Long Major Vacumatic retains the correct "Speedline" filling unit that was produced for 2nd Generation Vacumatic and works flawlessly. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Speedline Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 8 to 11 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly.

This Parker Vacumatic comes with a 14K Gold Nib with a medium point that measures .61mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium line. In the writing sample provided, the stroke/line ranges from .46mm to .71mm when measuring with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-black Ink.

This Parker Burgundy Pearl Long Major Fountain Pen is what I would consider to be grade in Very Fine to Excellent Condition. These Parker Burgundy Pearl 2nd Generation Fountain Pens are getting extremely difficult to acquire in any condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
