I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, cap, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Clip, Narrow-Wide-Narrow Triple Cap Banding, and 14K Duofold NIB. Buffed and Polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and, indeed, it looks fantastic.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks, or repairs. The cap has the Blue Diamond Gold Filled clip with no brassing. The Gold Filled Narrow-Wide-Narrow Triple Cap Banding displays a wonderful gold filled color with just a small hint of brassing. The top jewel is black and polished to a great shine The barrel is clearly stamped with, "PARKER DUOFOLD MADE IN U.S.A. with date code 1 (for 1941) in the first quarter". Notice the date code - it is turned upside down and is uncommon to find this "error" for this model. The transparency of the barrel is great and one can see through it clearly - I would consider the barrel transparency to be "water clear". The blind cap securely fits and has a gold filled tassie that displays very minor gold filled loss on the edge. There are no personalizations or monograms to either the cap or barrel on this fountain pen. This Parker Duofold Fountain Pen is known as Ingenue and the smallest model when manufactured from 1940 to 1941 and measures 4 7/8" in length capped and 5 1/2" posted.
The Speedline Vacu-Fill System works great, typically in my tests with water about 5 to 7 presses and it will roughly fill full. This Vacu-Fill unit has been greased and is in excellent condition - it operates smoothly and works flawlessly as it did when manufactured.
The 14K Parker Duofold NIB performs wonderfully and has a smooth, wet Nib with a medium point measuring roughly .63mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample this NIB writes with a fine to double broad stroke/line. The writing sample provided in the image has the fine stroke on the horizontal lines measuring .56mm and the double broad stroke of roughly 1.48mm with normal to medium pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that is listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is a gorgeous, RESTORED Parker Duofold Fountain Pen in the Dusty Rose Celluloid where the color just "pops". The error with the date code helps to make this a very interesting collector variant. I would grade this Duofold in the Excellent Condition. It is ready to write with or just add to writing arsenal collection.
