For your consideration, we are excited to offer for sale this exceptional Restored Circa 1941 Parker Double Jewel Vacumatic Fountain Pen in the coveted Blue Azure Pearl celluloid, fitted with a remarkable 14K Full Flex nib. Combining one of Parker's most desirable Vacumatic colors, outstanding barrel transparency, and an unusually expressive Canadian flexible nib, this is the type of Vacumatic that appeals equally to serious collectors and vintage writing enthusiasts.
This fountain pen has been completely disassembled, restored, and returned to dependable writing condition. The nib, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel were ultrasonically cleaned, a new properly sized diaphragm installed, and all internal components inspected before reassembly. The Blue Diamond Feather Clip, Chevron cap band, and 14K nib have been hand polished, while the cap, barrel, and blind cap were carefully buffed and polished to restore the vibrancy and depth of the original celluloid.
The Azure Pearl celluloid on this example is simply stunning. The cap and barrel remain free of chips, cracks, repairs, or teeth marks, with rich coloration throughout and exceptional visual depth. The barrel transparency is particularly noteworthy, remaining near water-clear—an increasingly difficult attribute to find on Vacumatics that have survived more than eight decades. Ink levels remain easily visible through the barrel, a feature collectors actively seek when evaluating high-grade examples.
The pen is fitted with the desirable Blue Diamond Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip and Chevron cap banding, both of which remain exceptionally well preserved. The clip displays only the slightest trace of wear near the top jewel, while the cap band retains strong gold-filled color with no noticeable wear. The black top and bottom jewels remain crisp and beautifully polished. The barrel imprint is sharp and clearly legible: "MADE IN CANADA PARKER VACUMATIC PAT. NO. 318982 REG. TMS."
On occasion, Canadian production can sometimes pass through quality control without a barrel date code, this is one of them. The presence of the Speedline filler and knowing the pen is a Double Jewel Blue Azure model allows this example to be confidently dated between 1938 and 1941, which is when the Double Jewel Blue Azure Vacumatic was only made.
This Vacumatic is the Major-sized model, measuring approximately 5 1/8 inches capped, 5 3/4 inches posted, and weighing .58 ounces—offering an ideal balance between everyday usability and classic Vacumatic proportions.
The pen retains its original Second Generation Speedline filling system, widely considered by many collectors to be Parker's finest Vacumatic filling mechanism. The unit has been serviced, lubricated, and tested with water, operating smoothly and filling exactly as intended. Typically, a full fill is achieved in approximately 10 to 13 presses.
The true highlight of this fountain pen is its extraordinary Canadian-made 14K two-tone nib. Canadian Parker nibs have long enjoyed a reputation among collectors for their superior flexibility and smooth writing characteristics, and this example is among the finest. The nib retains nearly all of its original platinum masking and delivers an exceptionally smooth writing experience.
Measuring approximately .83mm at the iridium tip, the nib writes with a Fine line of roughly .56mm under normal writing pressure, yet expands to an impressive Triple Broad stroke measuring approximately 2.03mm. The resulting line variation is dramatic, expressive, and highly sought after by collectors of flexible vintage nibs. Equally important, the nib remains remarkably smooth throughout its range, offering the responsive feel that makes vintage flexible nibs so enjoyable to write with. The writing sample shown was produced using the actual pen offered for sale and dipped in Faber-Castell Cobalt Blue ink.
Finding any Double Jewel Azure Pearl Vacumatic is increasingly difficult. Finding one with near water-clear transparency is considerably harder. Finding one with a genuinely full-flex Canadian nib is rarer still. The convergence of all three qualities in a single pen makes this a particularly desirable offering.
Overall, this Parker Vacumatic grades in the Very Fine+ to Excellent range and represents a superb collector-grade example of one of Parker's most iconic fountain pens. Whether destined for a serious Vacumatic collection or regular writing use, this exceptional Azure Pearl is ready for its next chapter.
A truly outstanding Parker Vacumatic—featuring gorgeous Azure Pearl celluloid, near water-clear transparency, the desirable Speedline filler, and an extraordinary full-flex Canadian nib that elevates this pen into a class of its own.
