Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Fabulous Restored 1942 Parker Vacumatic Silver Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in the Long Major Size. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Nickel Plated Blue Diamond Arrow Clip, Nickel Plate Chevron Cap Banding (\\\///) and 14K NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the material of fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size that measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 61/4" posted.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the blue diamond clip that displays very little wear. The chevron cap banding is in excellent condition with no brassing. The top jewel is silver pearl striped and has been polished to bring back a gorgeous shine. The barrel is clearly stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with date code 2, for 1942, in the 1st quarter". The transparency of the barrel is near water clear and one can easily see through the barrel with only minor ambering. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.

The Vacumatic Filling System has the proper plastic filling unit for this 3rd Generation Vacumatic. It works great, typically in my tests with water about 7-8 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly and flawlessly.

The Parker NIB is a 14K gold Split Arrow the writes very smooth. The actual tip/writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .48mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample, this NIB writes with a double extra fine to medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the double extra fine line measures at .33mm and the medium stroke measures .73mm when measured with digital calipers under medium to firm pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen is fantastic having near water clear barrel transparency with an outstanding Silver Pearl celluloid color. This is a harder to find Long Major Variant that collectors like to clamor for when trying to complete their collection. I would grade this Parker Vac in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
