Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Beautifully Restored 1948 Parker Vacumatic Emerald Pearl Celluloid Fountain Pen in the Major Size. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Split Arrow Clip, Gold Filled Chevron Cap (///\\\) Band and 14K Parker NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6" posted. The Emerald color is lovely in this celluloid and displays vibrantly.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Split Arrow Blue Diamond Gold Filled Clip in excellent condition with no wear. The Chevron Cap Banding is also in excellent condition with no brassing or wear displayed. The top jewel is black and has been polished to bring back a gorgeous shine. The barrel is clearly stamped with, " GEO. S. PARKER PARKER VACUMATIC MADE IN U.S.A. ". The transparency of the barrel is water-clear with no ambering - this is how this would look coming from the factory. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel.

This 3rd Generation Parker Vacumatic has the correct plastic filling unit typical of this production. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly. The Vacumatic Filling System works very well, typically in my tests with water about 7-8 presses to fill full.

The Fountain Pen has a 14K Parker Split Arrow NIB that writes with a wet, smooth line. The nib has an "8" date code that helps us date the pen to circa 1948. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .66mm when measured with digital calipers. When creating a writing sample, the NIB writes with a fine to broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at roughly .50mm and the broad stroke line measures 1.10mm when measured with digital calipers under medium to firm pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen is collector grade with clean celluloid, great color vibrancy, smooth writing nib, and water clear barrel transparency. These Emerald Pearl Celluloid Parker Vacs are increasingly difficult to acquire especially in this type of condition. I would grade this Parker in Near Mint Condition. It is ready to write or just add to writing arsenal collection.
