For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored 1948 Parker Vacumatic Major Size Fountain Pen in the Azure Blue Celluloid. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.
Collector Alert: The barrel is water clear and in near perfect condition. The Azure Blue Pearl color is vibrant and in near-mint condition.
I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, section, breather tube, and barrel. Replaced the old diaphragm with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled Blue Diamond Clip, Gold Filled Chevron Cap Banding (///\\\), and 14K NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel, cap, and blind cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the material of the fountain pen. This Parker Vacumatic is a major size that measures 5 1/8" in length capped and 6" posted.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has the split arrow gold-filled Blue diamond clip and is in perfect condition with no brassing. The chevron cap banding is in excellent condition with no brassing. The top jewel is black and has been polished to bring back a gorgeous shine. The barrel is stamped with, "Geo. S. Parker Vacumatic Made in U.S.A. with a date code 8 (for 1948) in the 3rd Quarter". The transparency of the barrel is water clear and how it looked the day it left the factory. The blind cap securely fits. There are no monograms or personalizations to the cap or barrel.
The Vacumatic Filling System works great, typically in my tests with water about 7-8 presses to fill full. I have greased the filling unit so it operates smoothly and now operates flawlessly.
The Parker NIB is a 14K gold Split Arrow NIB. The actual writing portion of the 14K Parker NIB has a fine point measuring roughly .49mm when measured with digital calipers and writes smoothly. When writing a sample, this NIB writes with an extra-fine to medium stroke. The extra-fine line/stroke measures at .36mm with light pressure and the medium line/stroke measures .88mm when measured with digital calipers under medium to firm pressure. The sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.
This is a Vintage Parker Vacumatic Fountain Pen that displays a near-perfect Azure Blue Pearl color with the highlight on this pen being the water clear barrel. I grade this Parker Vac in Near Mint Condition. It is ready to write or just add to your writing arsenal collection.
