This fountain pen was part of a purchase from an old Stationary Store in Cincinnati, Ohio where I acquired nearly 200 New Old Stock Fountain Pens from the 1940 to 1950s era - this is just one of them. Finding any pen that is stickered and retaining the original foil tag, let alone one that is in the desired color like this one, is a scarce and uncommon find.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks, teeth marks or repairs. The original Parker 61 $15.00 foil tag still is remaining. This Parker 61 has the Heritage Rainbow Cap which is gorgeous with the First Edition badge on the lower portion of the cap. The cap is 1/10 12K Gold Filled and hallmarked. Parker is stamped on the lower cap lip. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. I have not touched the fountain pen to buff or polish it. This Parker 61 measures 5 1/2" in length capped and 5 3/4" posted.
The Parker 61 comes with a Medium Nib. The point measures roughly .67mm when measured with digital calipers. I have not written with this Nib - I wanted to keep this Fountain Pen in New Old Stock, Mint Condition for the new collector that acquires this one.
This Parker 61 has the capillary filling system that has never been inked and is in perfect condition as the day it left the factory. You can tell it has never been inked due to the end of the capillary filler because it displays white - no ink has ever been in this pen (see image 6).
This Parker 61 First Edition Fountain Pen in the High-Cachet and Scarce Rage Red Color is almost unheard of finding in this condition with original tag with it never being inked. It is in ready to write condition or just add to writing arsenal collection. I would consider this Parker 61 Heritage 1st Edition to be in New Old Stock, Mint Condition.
