For your consideration, we are delighted to offer for sale this exceptional 1989 Parker 75 Lapis Lazuli Fountain Pen, beautifully finished in the highly desirable Blue & Gold Speckled lacquer with gold-plated trim and fitted with a scarce 14K Broad nib. Preserved in Mint, New Old Stock, Never Inked condition, this remarkable example represents one of the most collectible finishes from Parker's celebrated French Laque Series, produced between 1979 and 1990. Complete with its original Parker presentation box, this is a true collector-grade survivor.
The Parker 75 Laque Series marked the pinnacle of Parker's luxury fountain pen production during the 1980s. Manufactured in Parker's Meru, France facility, these pens combined exquisite Chinese lacquer artistry with the timeless Parker 75 design, creating writing instruments that remain among the most elegant and sought-after modern Parkers ever produced.
Among these lacquer finishes, Lapis Lazuli has become one of the series' signature colors. Inspired by the precious gemstone of the same name, the finish displays a brilliant cobalt blue lacquer enhanced with shimmering metallic flecks that create remarkable depth and movement as the pen catches the light. Collectors generally recognize at least four distinct Lapis Lazuli variations produced over the years, including white speckled, black speckled, gold speckled, and the lighter blue variation with white speckling. This example features the scarcer Gold Speckled Lapis Lazuli, considered one of the more elusive and desirable variants encountered today.
Dating to the fourth quarter of 1989, as confirmed by the "N" date code stamped on the cap lip, this pen remains in outstanding collector condition. The cap and barrel retain their flawless high-gloss lacquer finish with no dents, dings, scratches, cracks, repairs, or signs of use. The slip cap fits securely to the barrel with the precise engagement Parker collectors expect, while the cap lip is crisply stamped "PARKER FRANCE" with the Parker hallmark and date code. There are no monograms or personal engravings.
The Parker 75 measures approximately 5 1/8 inches capped, 5 5/8 inches posted, and weighs 0.78 ounces, offering the perfectly balanced proportions that have made the 75 model a favorite among collectors and writers for more than sixty years.
The pen retains its original Parker cartridge/converter filling system. The factory converter has been tested with water and functions exactly as intended, and the pen also accepts Parker ink cartridges for added convenience.
Fitted with its original 14K solid gold Broad nib, the nib is correctly engraved "PARKER 585 FRANCE" with the Parker Arrow assay hallmarks. The feed is factory marked "B" for Broad, while the tipping measures approximately 1.18mm using digital calipers. Broad nibs are encountered far less frequently than Fine or Medium examples, making this an especially desirable configuration for collectors. In keeping with the pen's New Old Stock status, the nib has never been inked or dip-tested, preserving its untouched factory condition for the next owner.
*NOTE: This Parker 75 Nib/feed is the later comb feed and the thin gold filled section, not the earlier stick feeds or dial indicator which reinforces the 1989 date code on the cap banding. Additionally, the later dimple tassies are on the cap and barrel leading to the later production.
The pen is accompanied by its original Parker presentation box, which remains in excellent condition with a clean interior free of ink stains or damage.
Finding any Parker 75 in the Lapis Lazuli finish has become increasingly difficult over the past decade. Finding the Gold Speckled variant in Mint, Never Inked, New Old Stock condition is considerably rarer still. Combined with the desirable Broad nib and complete presentation, this represents one of the finest examples a serious Parker collector could hope to acquire.
Whether destined to become the centerpiece of an advanced Parker collection or preserved as one of the finest surviving examples of the French Laque Series, this 1989 Parker 75 Lapis Lazuli stands as a magnificent tribute to Parker's golden era of luxury writing instruments—beautifully preserved today for generations to come.
