For your consideration, we are offering for sale this 1999 Parker Centennial Duofold Fountain Pen in Red Marble with Gold Trim and scarce medium left oblique nib. I have disassembled the fountain pen to clean and polish it and now is back in fabulous writing condition.
The barrel and cap are gorgeous with beautiful red marbled color and gold-plated trim. There are absolutely no nicks, chips, cracks, or repairs to the pen.
The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. This Parker Duofold is a Centennial Size that measures 5 3/8" inches in length capped and 6 7/8" posted. This Parker Duofold has a date code stamp on the back of the cap of "IN" for 1999 in the 3rd Quarter date code. Also, the area is stamped with Parker and Made in U.K.
This Parker Centennial has a fantastic 18K Two-Tone Medium Left Oblique nib. The nib/feed is designated 79 which is numbered on the back of the feed. The 79-coded nib is known as a Medium Left Oblique 18K nib - this nib is for those who slant the pen when they write. The 2-tone NIB is in fantastic condition and writes smoothly! The actual writing portion (iridium) of the Parker NIB measures roughly 1.53mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a .69mm medium line on the horizontal strokes to a 1.20mm broad stroke on the wide vertical strokes with medium pressure when measuring with digital calipers. I am not used to this nib so I am really unable to present a writing sample in the best context as someone who is experienced in this nib. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Montblanc Blue Ink.
The ink converter is a factory Parker and ready for your ink. I have tested the ink converter with water and operates as it should.
This Parker Duofold Centennial in Red Marble really makes a statement - the color is absolutely gorgeous with the superb trim! Having a 79-coded nib on a Centennial Duofold makes the pen much more desirable than others - very difficult to acquire this nib. This Parker Centennial Duofold is in Near Mint to Mint Condition and is ready to write with or add to your writing arsenal collection. Indeed, this a pen that you can cherish and pass down from generation to generation.
