The Victorian era is generally viewed as one of the most outstanding periods of English culture. Its special elegance is recaptured in the pens from the Writers Edition Charles Dickens. The barrel is made of the finest deep green precious resin and is decorated with the writer’s signature on the side of the cap, Charles Dickens. The 925 sterling silver fluted cap and the rhodium-plated 18K gold nib provide an elegant finishing touch as a tribute to the most famous author of the Victorian era.
The cap and barrel are in perfect condition with no cracks, nicks, scratches, dings, dents, or repairs. The cap is always securing tightly to the barrel. This particular Charles Dickens model is part of a limited edition collection, numbered "08372/18500" at the top of the cap along with, "MONTBLANC GERMANY". Just below the clip are the Sterling 925 hallmark. The fountain pen measures 5 7/8" capped and 6 1/2" posted.
This Montblanc fountain pen uses a piston-filling system. I have tested it with water and works as it was designed to. I have taken apart the piston to clean the inside of the barrel and flush out any old ink. The piston filling system now works smoothly
This pen has an 18K 2-Tone Rhodium plated nib that pays homage to Charles Dickens with his initials, "CD". The rest of the nib is stamped with, "4810, 18K/750, Montblanc, 2001". The nib's iridium point measures .84mm using digital calipers, or a Medium nib point. When drafting the writing sample, the nib produces a moderate line variation of .79mm to .89mm when writing with normal to firm pressure. The writing sample displayed in the images was created using the actual pen and Parker Quink Blue ink. This nib writes incredibly smoothly which makes for a truly enjoyable writing experience.
