For your consideration, we are privileged to offer for sale this exceptional circa 2002 Pelikan M900 Toledo Limited Edition Fountain Pen, preserved in Mint, New Old Stock, Never Inked condition and complete with its original Pelikan wooden presentation box. Representing the final year of the original M900 Toledo production (1991–2002), this is one of Pelikan's most celebrated luxury writing instruments—a remarkable fusion of German engineering and centuries-old precious metal craftsmanship.
Unlike conventionally decorated fountain pens, every Pelikan Toledo is individually handcrafted. The decorative barrel sleeve begins as a solid sterling silver sleeve, painstakingly engraved entirely by hand before being finished in rich vermeil (24K gold over sterling silver) using the traditional Toledo damascene-inspired process. Because each sleeve is engraved by an artisan, no two Toledo pens are ever truly identical, making every example a unique work of art rather than a mass-produced writing instrument.
This example has been preserved beautifully. The black precious resin cap retains a deep mirror-like gloss and is free from chips, cracks, scratches, or repairs. The brilliant gold-plated clip and dual cap bands remain bright with no plating loss or wear. The cap lip is crisply stamped "PELIKAN GERMANY," while the cap is crowned with Pelikan's desirable two-chick logo, correctly identifying this as one of the "Old Style" examples from the original M900 production. The threaded cap engages securely every time to the barrel, and the transparent green ink window remains crystal clear. There are no monograms or personal engravings.
The pen measures approximately 5 5/8 inches capped, 6 1/2 inches posted, and weighs 1.35 ounces, offering the substantial yet perfectly balanced feel expected from Pelikan's flagship M-series writing instruments.
This fountain pen is engraved with Limited Edition No. LN/47 €I on the sterling vermeil barrel sleeve. Even more remarkably, the original Medium nib identification sticker remains attached to the piston knob, while the original M900 hang tag is still secured beneath the clip—details that collectors greatly appreciate and seldom encounter on examples over two decades old.
The legendary Pelikan piston filling system operates with the precision for which the company is renowned. The piston has been lightly lubricated to ensure exceptionally smooth operation and has been tested with water only, functioning exactly as intended.
Fitted with Pelikan's superb 18C/750 two-tone gold Medium nib, the tipping measures approximately 0.88mm when checked with digital calipers. In keeping with the pen's untouched collector status, it has never been inked or dip-tested, allowing the next owner to experience the first writing or preserve it indefinitely in factory-fresh condition.
Accompanying the pen is its original Pelikan wooden presentation box, which remains in outstanding condition inside and out, with a clean satin-lined interior. Please note that the original Toledo booklet is not included.
Few modern fountain pens have achieved the iconic status of the Pelikan Toledo. Combining hand engraving, precious metals, and Pelikan's world-renowned piston-filling mechanism, the M900 stands among the finest writing instruments ever produced by the company. Original-production examples from the 1991–2002 "Old Style" era have become increasingly sought after, particularly when preserved in New Old Stock, Never Inked condition with the original presentation box and factory stickers still intact.
An extraordinary collector-grade Pelikan Toledo—equally at home in the most distinguished Pelikan collection or destined to become a cherished heirloom for generations to come.
