For your consideration, we are privileged to offer for sale this exceptional 2012 Montblanc Writers Edition Jonathan Swift Fountain Pen, Limited Edition numbered 4066 of only 12,000 produced worldwide. Presented here in Never Inked, Mint condition, this remarkable literary tribute remains complete with its original Montblanc presentation boxes, literature, and protective sleeve.
Issued as part of Montblanc’s celebrated Writers Edition series, this model honors Jonathan Swift, the legendary Anglo-Irish satirist and author of Gulliver’s Travels. Montblanc approached the design with extraordinary creativity, weaving literary symbolism throughout nearly every aspect of the pen’s construction.
Crafted from black precious resin and lacquer with platinum-plated trim, the pen features an intricate silver whirlwind pattern inspired by the ropes used to secure Gulliver upon arriving in Lilliput. The clip itself references the staircase climbed by the mayor of Lilliput to address Gulliver, while the cap profile subtly evokes the shape of Gulliver’s tricorne hat. Jonathan Swift’s engraved signature adorns the cap, completing the narrative-driven presentation.
The fountain pen possesses a substantial and luxurious feel in hand, measuring approximately 5 1/2 inches capped and weighing 1.79 ounces. As designed by Montblanc, the pen is not intended to be posted, preserving the balance and sculptural silhouette of the piece.
Condition is nothing short of outstanding. The cap and barrel remain immaculate with no scratches, chips, cracks, repairs, or wear present. The platinum-plated trim retains its original brilliance, while the threading and cap engagement remain precise and smooth, reflecting Montblanc’s renowned manufacturing standards. The limited edition number is on the backside of the cap along with the serial number "MBJB4F4W4".
The piston-filling system has been carefully inspected and lightly serviced to ensure proper operation. It has been tested with water only, and importantly, no traces of ink were found within the barrel, feed, or nib assembly—fully supporting its Never Inked status.
Fitted with an 18K/750 Montblanc Medium nib stamped “4810 18K/750 MONTBLANC 2012,” the nib measures approximately .85mm when tested with digital calipers. Untouched by ink, the nib remains in pristine factory condition and promises the smooth, expressive writing character expected from Montblanc’s Writers Edition series.
Accompanying the pen are the original Montblanc presentation box, literature, and protective sleeve, all preserved in excellent condition.
The Jonathan Swift Writers Edition remains one of the more imaginative and symbolically rich entries within Montblanc’s celebrated literary series. Combining historical tribute, sculptural artistry, and fine writing craftsmanship, it stands as both a functional writing instrument and a collectible work of literary art.
An increasingly difficult Montblanc Writers Edition to locate in complete Never Inked condition—particularly with full packaging and documentation intact.
This is more than a writing instrument—it is a story cast in resin and gold, a tribute to imagination itself, and a centerpiece destined for a collection that values artistry, rarity, and enduring legacy.
