Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this early Circa 1910 Waterman #20 Black Hard Rubber Eyedropper Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition. This Waterman #20 model is the Largest Fountain Pen they made and is an extremely scarce Waterman model to acquire.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB and feed. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel, cap, and section with mineral oil. Cleaned the outside of the cap and barrel with mineral oil and the hard rubber displays a nice black color (very minimal oxidation).

This fountain pen is made from black hard rubber. This is an Eyedropper Fountain Pen and that means you would unscrew the section to add the ink via an eyedropper. The barrel has great imprints at the center that read, "PAT'D 1884 MAY 23 1899 WATERMAN'S FOUNTAIN PEN N.Y. U.S.A. PAT'D MAY 23, 1899 & AUG 3, 1903 U.S.A". The butt end of the fountain pen has a very crisp 20 imprint.

The cap is a Slip-on type cap always securing tightly to the barrel with a bright white Nickel Clip. There are no monograms to either the cap or barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #20 measures 6 5/8" in length capped and 9" posted.

The Waterman NIB is a #10 Ideal New York type - an early nib. The actual tip of the Waterman 14K NIB measures .77mm with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a medium line measuring .64mm and will flex to a double broad 1.34mm with medium pressure when being measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Waterman #20 is a scarce model to acquire. This Waterman is very clean and would consider it collector grade. I would consider this Waterman #20 to easily grade in Excellent Condition. It is ready to write or just add to your writing arsenal collection
