For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1924 Parker Senior Duofold Fountain Pen in Black Chased Hard Rubber in Near Mint to Mint Condition. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and is now in wonderful writing condition. The color and chasing are exceptional on this Senior Parker Duofold.
This pen came out of Janesville from a former Parker employee collection.
The fountain pen cap, barrel, and blind cap are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Cap has a Gold Filled Parker Clip with PAT SEP 5 - 16 stamped and has been polished to shine brightly with absolutely no wear or brassing. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, Large DUOFOLD imprint along with "GEO. S. PARKER FOUNTAIN PEN JANESVILLE WIS. U.S.A. LUCKY CURVE PAT JAN 03-05. APR. 11-05 APR. 25-12 JUN. 4-12". There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. The cap and barrel display absolutely wonderful deep black color with no oxidation. The chasing is perfect being very crisp. This Parker Duofold is the Senior Size and measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/2" posted.
I have added a new rubber sac to this Duofold. This Duofold has a Button Filler mechanism and has been tested with water and fills as it should. The filling unit operates as it was originally intended to and smoothly. The Parker NIB is 14K and stamped, "PARKER DUOFOLD PEN P". The actual writing portion (iridium tip) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .71mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to medium stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .53mm and the medium line measures at .76mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
NOTE: The Nib on this Duofold writes "buttery smooth". It is truly amazing writing experience. I have handled 1000s of pens and the smoothness this nib creates when writing has to rank in the top 25 pens that I have ever handled.
This is Parker Duofold is of simple design, yet, very significant due to the Large Duofold imprint, crisp chasing, and overall condition being impeccable. I would consider the condition of this Parker Duofold to be in Near Mint and boarding on Mint Condition. It is a spectacular writing collectible and certainly a significant fountain pen that would make for a "holy grail" addition to one's writing arsenal collection.
