Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Very Scarce Circa 1907 Waterman #612 Black Hard Rubber with Gold Decorative Banding and Pearl Slabs Eyedropper Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Cleaned, buffed, and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Decorative Barrel Bands along with the Waterman 14K #2 NIB.

This fountain pen is made from smooth black hard rubber with 18K Decorative Bands and Pearl Slabs. There is no oxidation of the hard rubber and displays a consistent deep black coloring. This fountain pen is an eyedropper filler type with a slip cap. The cap is stamped clean and crisp with the following, "WATERMAN'S FOUNTAIN PEN IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT'D MAY 23, 1899 & AUG 4, 1903 U.S.A. This Waterman barrel imprint on the end of the barrel has a crisp, "612". This cap is a slip-on type that securely fits the barrel. There are no personalizations or monograms to either the cap or barrel. There are no cracks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #612 measures 5 3/8" in length capped and 6 7/8" posted.

This Waterman Fountain Pen is an Eyedropper Fill type. I have tested it with Waterman fills and works as it was originally designed to.

This Waterman has a #2 WATERMAN IDEAL NEW YORK Flex Nib that is a pleasure to write with. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with a fine point measuring .56mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a fine line measuring roughly .49mm on the horizontal strokes and will flex up to a triple broad stroke of 2.05mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This Circa 1907 Waterman #612 fountain Pen is very desirable and quite scarce. Waterman Fountain Pens with Pearl Slabs are quite uncommon and one of the holy grail pens for a Waterman Collector. I would consider the condition of this fountain pen to grade in Excellent+ condition. This Waterman #612 Fountain Pen is in ready to write condition or add it to your writing arsenal collection.
