I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB and feed. I have hand cleaned the outside and inside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new rubber sac. Hand polished the Conklin Gold Filled Clip, Smooth Cap Banding, and 14K Conklin Endura NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the celluloid. This Conklin Endura is a Senior size that measures 5 5/16" capped and 6 5/8" posted.
This fountain pen cap and barrel are in gorgeous condition with no chips, cracks or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The sapphire blue celluloid color on this pen is very vibrant and consistent from the cap to the barrel - this is probably the best color I have ever seen on this model since I been collecting. The cap has the Gold Filled Conklin Clip with PAT May 28, 1918 stamped displaying no wear. The cap banding has the single Gold Filled Cap Banding, again with no wear. The trim on this pen is near perfect with no wear and is a real treat to see. The barrel is stamped with, "Trade CONKLIN Mark TOLEDO OHIO U.S.A. ENDURA". The lever filler is stamped with "PAT NOV. 17, 1925". I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Filling System works great and operates as it was intended to.
This Conklin Endura has a Huge 14K Conklin Endura 14K Nib. The actual iridium tip on this Endura Nib has a medium point measuring roughly .71mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to a medium stroke line. In the writing sample provided, the fine line measures at .51mm and will flex to a medium stroke measuring at .85mm with medium to firm pressure when I measured with digital calipers. This Nib writes great with a fairly smooth line. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was performed by dipping the Nib in Montblanc Blue Ink.
This Conklin Senior Endura Fountain Pen in the Sapphire Blue celluloid is a true specimen to hold. The trim is near perfect and the coloring is extremely vibrant, such a gorgeous writing instrument. I would grade the pen in Excellent+ to Near Mint condition - the imprint is a tad light on the barrel where "CONKLIN" is stamped and really the only minor flaw that I notice. It is ready to write with or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
