I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Replaced the old sac with a new, properly sized rubber sac. Hand polished the Gold Filled Parker Clip, Cap Banding, and 14K Duofold NIB. Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel, blind cap and cap to bring back the vibrancy of fountain pen and to protect the Celluloid. This Parker Duofold is the Senior Size and measures 5 1/2" capped and 6 1/2" posted.
The fountain pen cap, barrel, and blind cap are in magnificent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The Cap has a Gold Filled Parker Clip with PAT SEPT 5 - 16 stamped and has been polished to shine bright and displays no brassing. The cap banding displays rich gold filled color with only a very minor hint of brassing at the lower edge - I point it out for clarity sake as it is difficult to see without magnification. The barrel is clearly and crisply stamped with, "GEO. S. PARKER DUOFOLD FOUNTAIN PEN JANESVILLE, WIS LUCKY CURVE U.S.A. PAT 4-25-11". There are no monograms or personalizations to either the cap or barrel. The color of this Parker is exceptional - very much near mint to mint condition with no cracks or damage on typically fragile celluloid in this color.
This Duofold has a button filling mechanism and I have tested with water and fills as it should. Works fantastic and as designed to.
This is the fun part of this Duofold. The Parker Duofold NIB is 14K that writes extremely smooth and lays down a wet line. The actual writing portion (iridium) of the 14K Parker NIB has a medium point measuring roughly .84mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a medium to double broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided, the medium line measures at .73mm and the double broad line measures at 1.25mm with medium to firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.
Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.
This is an Iconic vintage Parker Duofold Fountain Pen in the Senior size. It is a scarce Duofold due to the condition of the Mandarin celluloid material. I would consider this Parker to grade in Near Mint Condition. Hard pressed to find another in this type of condition. It is ready to write or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
