Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Gorgeous Restored circa 1927 Waterman #7 Red Ripple Hard Rubber Fountain Pen with Blue Cap Band & NIB. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

Ultrasonically cleaned the NIB, feed, and section. Hand cleaned the inside of the barrel and cap with mineral oil. Cleaned and polished the outside of the cap and barrel. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new rubber sac. Hand polished the 18K Gold Filled Cap Banding, Gold Filled Waterman Ideal Clip-Cap, 18K Gold Filled Ideal Lever Box Assembly along with the Waterman 14K #7 BLUE KEYHOLE NIB.

This fountain pen is made from hard rubber in the red ripple design. The coloring is absolutely amazing red and black color. The Waterman Ideal Clip and Cap Banding are in near perfect condition with no wearing of the gold fill material. The Globe and Ideal imprint on the lever are crisp and clean with no wearing of the gold-filled material. The barrel has the imprint at the center of the barrel that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFFICE FOUNTAIN PEN" - the imprint is light but legible. The lower portion of the barrel has the imprint that reads, "WATERMAN'S REG. U.S. IDEAL GLOBE LOGO PAT. OFFICE MADE IN U.S.A." which is very light and the butt end of the fountain pen has the 7 imprint. The threads on the cap and barrel are excellent with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The cap has a new replacement Blue banding which is in excellent condition. There are no monograms on the cap or barrel. There are no cracks, nicks or repairs to the hard rubber. This Waterman #7 measures 5 5/8" in length capped and 7 3/16" posted.

The lever and box assembly have been cleaned and oiled. It works flawlessly and smoothly in my tests with water.

This Waterman has the not so common Blue Keyhole Nib - considered by many the 3rd toughest nib to acquire next to Pink and Black. The Blue color-coded Waterman Nib is known for having Broad/Stub popular among fast writing styles. The iridium tipping is in excellent condition with the point measuring .71mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing the sample in the listing images, the NIB writes with a medium line measuring roughly .60mm on the horizontal strokes and will flex up to a triple broad line of roughly 1.96mm with firm pressure when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample was used by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue-Black Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This is antique Waterman #7 Fountain Pen with Blue Nib is a tough model to acquire clean, like this one, and is in ready to write condition. The Red Ripple coloring is very vibrant and displays very boldly. I would consider the condition of this fountain in Excellent Condition and certainly a collector grade writing instrument to add to one's collection.
