Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Circa 1928 Conklin Endura Mahogany Wood Grain Hard Rubber Ringtop Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, and put back together and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB and feed. I have hand-cleaned the outside and inside of the cap and barrel with mineral oil. Replaced the old rubber sac with a new sac. Hand polished the Conklin Gold Filled Cap Top, Smooth Cap Banding, and 14K Conklin Endura NIB. I have cleaned, buffed, and polished the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and protect the hard rubber of this fountain pen.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in great condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always securing tightly to the barrel. The Mahogany Wood Grain hard rubber color on this pen is excellent and displays consistent color from the cap to the barrel. The cap has the Smooth Gold Filled Cap Banding displaying no wear. The barrel imprint has nearly worn away but I can make out, "Trade CONKLIN Mark TOLEDO OHIO U.S.A. ENDURA". The lever filler is stamped with "PAT NOV. 17, 1925". This Conklin Endura is a ring top size that measures 4 3/8" capped and 5 3/4" posted.

This Conklin has a Lever Filler filling system. I have tested the filling mechanism with water and fills as it should. The Filling System works great and operates as it was intended to.

This Conklin has the Endura 14K Conklin Nib. The actual iridium tip on this Endura Nib has a fine point measuring roughly .53mm when measured with digital calipers. When writing a sample with this NIB, it writes with a fine to broad stroke/line. In the writing sample provided in this listing, the fine line measures at .48mm on the horizontal strokes and measures at a broad/double broad 1.24mm line on the downward strokes with medium to firm pressure when I measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale. The writing sample also used Montblanc Blue Ink by dipping the NIB ink.

This Conklin Mahogany Wood Grain Hard Rubber displays vibrantly. If the imprint on the barrel was easily seen I would grade it in Excellent but without I would consider this pen in Fine to Very Fine condition. This Conklin is ready to write with, if you choose to do so, or just add it to your writing arsenal collection.
