Description

For your consideration, we are offering for sale this Restored Circa 1941 Montblanc 234 1/2 G  Piston Filler Celluloid Fountain Pen. This fountain pen has been thoroughly taken apart, cleaned, put back together, and now is in wonderful writing condition.

I have ultrasonically cleaned the NIB and feed. Hand cleaned the cap and barrel. Replaced the old cork with a new, properly sized one. Hand polished the Gold Filled trim and 14C/585 NIB. I have Cleaned, Buffed, Polished and Waxed the barrel and cap to bring back the vibrancy and to protect the celluloid of fountain pen. This Montblanc 234 1/2 G has an amber visualated barrel with good transparency, albeit with medium ambering.

This fountain pen cap and barrel are in magnificent condition showing no chips, cracks, or repairs with the cap always secure tightly to the barrel. The cap has the Gold Filled Clip that displays no brassing. The Gold Filled double cap banding also displays no brassing or wear. The side of the cap has the heat stamped Montblanc logo that displays crisp and clean. The inside of the barrel, near the piston end, the inside barrel blackening is starting to wear. This is common on these pens and does not hinder any function of the pen. The top of the cap retains the snowcap logo. The piston filler blind cap securely fits and is stamped with, "234 1/2G", and the opposite side is stamped with, "F and a tiny Omega symbol just below the F". This Montblanc 234 1/2 G size measures 4 7/8" in length capped and 5 5/8" posted.

This Montblanc has a telescoping piston filling system. The piston filler has a new cork, been cleaned, greased to work as it was originally intended to.

The Montblanc NIB is a 14C/585 NIB. The NIB has a fine, flexible point measuring roughly .59mm when measured with digital calipers. The writing sample provided in the image ranges from a fine stroke that measures .52mm to a double broad stroke of roughly 1.55mm with medium to firm pressure when I measured with digital calipers. The writing sample was done with the actual pen in the images that are listed for sale by dipping the NIB in Parker Quink Blue Ink.

Any specks of white in the images are from the cotton that I used to clean the barrel and cap.

This War-Time generation Montblanc Fountain Pen is increasingly difficult to secure with this type of NIB which makes this an excellent collector variant to add to one's writing arsenal collection. I would grade this Montblanc 234 1/2G in Very Fine to Excellent Condition. Certainly, if you are a Montblanc collector this is one of those types of pens you will want for your collection that is amazing to write with.
